A Thread of Light
We are sharing a video here featuring illustrations by Shai Jacobson, titled “Thread of Light.” In these drawings, Shai depicts the imagined, wishful ways in which, as if by a miracle, the kidnapped Israelis in Gaza will return home. Shai writes: In the midst of pain and immense sorrow, when everything feels so lost and hopeless, I try to find and hold onto a thread of light—to find a doorway to beauty, to hope, and to miraculous, possible paths for the safe and peaceful return of the captives, as soon as possible.
Throughout the year, I’ve drawn numerous magical ways in which the kidnapped Israelis in Gaza might return. This was my small way of coping, of holding onto a small opening for air, for breath. For the new Hebrew year, amidst the chaos and pain, I wish to hold onto a thread of light and hope, for a return home, for compassion, and healing for everyone—for all of us.
